Coach and Volunteer Requirements
COACH and VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
COACHES, TEAM VOLUNTEERS, AND ORGANIZATIONAL STAFF
All members of the coaching / team and organizational staff of the Framingham Youth Hockey Program are volunteers. All members are required to pass a criminal background check (CORI) and have completed all forms and paperwork required by USA Hockey, MA Hockey, SafeSport Training, and FYHP rules.
ALL volunteers (coaches, managers, locker room supervisors, etc.) and organizational staff (BOD Members) are required to:
- Have a valid USA Hockey number.
- Register as a FYHP Volunteer
- Passed a Background Screening (CORI)
- Complete Safe Sport training.
- *coaches only Complete Annual USA Hockey CEP (Coaching Education Program) training
- *coaches only Complete Age-Specific Online Module

USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION
You must Register as a Coach or Volunteer with USA Hockey. Volunteer Registration is free.

This registration will enable you to complete contact information and enter your USA hockey number for the upcoming season.

CORI Screening
USA Hockey requires this EVERY OTHER year. At the beginning of the season, they experience a large backlog, so get this done as soon as possible as it may take up to two weeks to process.
You must do this on a computer. The form will not work on a phone.

- You will need to upload a picture of a valid photo ID to complete this process.
SAFESPORT TRAINING
This needs to be completed EVERY season. Once you have registered with USA Hockey complete SafeSport.

AGE-SPECIFIC ONLINE MODULE
For coaches only - you must complete age-specific module(s) for the age level(s) of play you will be coaching.
This must be completed PRIOR to participating in any team activities. A coach cannot be added to a roster unless this is completed.
The new USA Hockey e-Learning System, which includes the USA Hockey Coaching Education Program Age-Specific Modules courses, is available to all users.
- Log into your Coaching profile on USA Hockey Learning
- Look under the age specific modules section to complete the module for the age group you will be coaching and the Foundations of Player Development Module.
CEP (Coaching Education Program)
For coaches only - you must attend a Coaching Education program (CEP) by December 31.
All coaches must enter USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program at Level 1, and must continue their education with a coaching clinic each year until, at a minimum, they achieve Level 4.
- *Coaches for 8U teams should remain at Level 1 until they start coaching an older age level.
- A coach may attend only one (1) certification clinic per year.
- Once Level 4 is achieved, coaches will need to complete 5 credit hours of continuing education within each subsequent three-year period"

Please note: You do NOT have to take a clinic in Massachusetts. This means that if there are virtual or in-person options available in other states, you may register for them.
Typically, there will be sessions through November, but they fill up fast. Register for a course as soon as you can to reserve your spot. Keep an eye on the USA Hockey course listing page as new trainings are added frequently.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Register with USA Hockey
- Register as an FYHP Team Staff Member
- Passed a Background Screening (CORI)
- Complete SafeSport Training
- Complete Your Annual USA Hockey CEP Clinic
- Complete Your Age-Specific Online Module
FYHP will reimburse CEP fees for any coach in our program who registers and completes all requirements (other than CEP) before 8/1.
FYHP will reimburse CEP plus USA Hockey fees for first-time coaches who registers and complete all requirements (other than CEP) before 8/1.
*** Any volunteer who does not complete these requirements in a timely manner will be red-lined by USA Hockey and be removed from their role.***
